Hatha yoga has been prevalent since the 15th century in India and is also known as Hatha Vidya and sometimes as the science of Hatha. Vinyasa style yoga has been fast compared to Hatha which is comparatively slower.

Vinyasa yoga is about some well- defined movements, each linked to a different one and a posture which is completely different and has a different purpose. Though these are similar on the Sun Salutation or the particular Surya Namaskar but the postures with some movements have a greater influence on the cardiovascular system, unlike the end results of hatha yoga which is more about relaxation and mental well being opposed to the physical well being. Hatha yoga is all about individual postures, rather than the flowing movements of Vinyasa Yoga.
